I trust that you didnt injure yourself?
Reg always says: "activate, dont aggrevate"
If your muscles are aware after the 5 x 5 exercises, then I would say you hit them spot on - good stuff!
What exercises did you do, BB squats?

Good stuff there Jan. BB squats is definitely my favourite exercise, and doing it 5 x 5 as heavy as you can just puts the cherry on the top. Try this next time. Leave your 5 x 5 squats for the second last exercise, and go heavy as per normal. After the 5 x 5s do 3 sets of 20 reps BB squat superset with DB pullovers across a bench. You'll obviously drop your weight on the squats superset to about 40% roughly what you did on the 5 x 5s, but doing the 3 sets of 20 squats with the Pullovers just really gives you such an amazing pump in your legs that you'll go home and smile all night - I promise you Make sure to warm up your lower back real good before you go down for heavy squats, do 3 sets of 15 prone extensions, or just lying hip raises, 3 sets of 15 as well - it's really vital that you bring your lower back into action before you squat... Keep us up to date on your progress with the 5 x 5s, we need more 5 x 5 evangelists out there! - Alwyn

Happy newyear!
iam ok, how goes your training? I will try in the coming period to combine cycling (two or at the most three times a week) with weighttraining! Just because i like the both! I realise that the two bite eachother. But i will see how it works out. I can possibly be very low in bodyfat while maintaining or even gaining some muslemass.
And i found out that i feel much better with a good overall shape, both power and endurance. Jan

Thanks, I trust you'll have a great year ahead!
My training has slowed down a bit - I needed to take a bit of a break, but I am starting to get back into it again - looking forward to an effective year in the gym...
The most important thing is that you fell good about yourself, and as you say you are feeling much better with your current physique, and that is really worth a lot, so do what you have to stay in that condition, because that is ultimately what this is about...

Hi Alwyn, the problem is for me that i like both sports, and if iam for example over 90 kgs cycling is not so nice any more. On the other hand, cycling is not really good for massbuilding. So actually i try now to combine both sports, but try to be muscular and very low in bodyfat. Then i will see wat happens. Fact is that i see myself doing weighttraining for decades (iam now 37) but really doing cycling (racebike, lycra outfit) not really anymore when iam a bit older I read that bill pearl did even cyclingraces for a couple of years!!!!!!!!! I drank 8 litres of whole milk in a week and put on 24 lbs in 4 months, I was amazed because I could never gain.
